To enhance FIBERGRID’s parent company PPC submarine network with the implementation of a new fiber optical submarine cable, connecting the island of Crete in the Aegean Sea to Alexandroupolis, towards high capacity, improved broadband services, link redundancy and traffic protection.
To study, propose and demonstrate “smart” cable technologies with regards to the new fiber optical submarine cables, to address in a cost-efficient way, multiple EU policies including self-protecting critical infrastructures, in line with the relevant provisions of the CER and NIS2 directives.
To perform detailed planning, design, and development of the associated terrestrial networks, etc. that will bring the submarine links into operational status, via interconnecting and terminating the submarine links to the local exchange points.
Implement, deploy, and configure for specific link(s) (submarine, shore-end and terrestrial), the required fiber inspection, test, and monitoring tools, as well as complementary network support systems and necessary utilities.
Deliver a thorough Business, Techno-economic, and Security assessment analysis for submarine optic fiber backbone networks for various scales, societal, business and governmental needs and use cases and assess the economic impact of the foreseen investments.
